1. Clean the top of the blind mechanism rail. It's best to start at the top of the blinds and work your way down to keep dirt from redistributing on the surface. Just wipe the dust off the top using a static cloth. Use a duster to clean the front of the blind mechanism. If there are spots or marks, remove them with a wet rag.

3. Clean the vertical slats of the blind. The method of cleaning the slats varies depending on the material in which your vertical blind is made of. If you have a fabric vertical blind, use a vacuum cleaner to eliminate dust buildup. Run the vacuum up and down the length of the vertical blind. If necessary, use a fabric pen to spot clean the slats. For vinyl slats, wipe dirt down using a rag. Use a damp sponge to clean spots or marks. Start from the top then wipe all the way down when you clean the slats.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance of your vertical blinds is a must to ensure that they function properly all the time. From time to time, check if all the cords are fastened correctly to their pulleys. If you see any damage in the blind track mechanism, have it repaired right away by a local window treatment repairman. Failure to do so may cause the cords to get tangled over time, which may be harmful to young children at home.

Also, you need to inspect the slats of the vertical blind for cuts or cracks. If your vertical blinds are made of PVC, use a glue gun to glue broken slats together.

Finally, check if your blinds are installed securely. Wrongly installed blinds are not only unattractive, but also a safety hazard because they may fall onto you or any family member at home and cause injury.
