Vertical Window Blinds

Window blinds are widow coverings that would help reduce the amount of sunlight that enters the room. They make use of slats that are made of cloth, metal or wood. They also move in a rotating motion, allowing the slats to turn at a 90 to 170 degree angle to open and close.

There lovely window coverings were called blinds by the British due to its being able to block the view of an observer. Therefore, they would partially or completely "blind" the observer of his view.

Window blinds may have the primary purpose of blocking the light. However, little do people know that it can also temper the heat that comes into the room. If it can block sunlight, then it surely will be able to prevent some of the heat that goes with it. In this case, the room does not get too hot as the blinds either absorbs or repels the heat.

Vertical blinds are window blinds that, as the name implies, would make use of vertical slats. These boards would be hung on one end on independent gears. These are suspended by an overhead railing that would line the gears of the slats side by side. Their being lined together allows the slats to move to an open or close at the same time.
Vertical blinds can be operated by hand or by motor. If hand-operated, it would have a cord that would move the gears to a 90-degree position. Once it has reached the 90-degree position, you can continue pulling on the cord to pull the slats together to one side. When mechanically operated, it would have a wall switch or a keypad that would allow you to just press a few buttons to open, close or pull the slats over to one side.

Vertical blinds are more preferred over other window blinds. These would have the ability to shut tightly. Hence, it allows little to no light from entering the room. This would mean that the room will be at almost total darkness when the blinds are closed.
Another trait that vertical blinds are being applauded for is their use of fewer slats. Unlike their horizontal counterparts, vertical blinds would have wider and thicker slats. This would result in the se of fewer slats to cover the width of the window. The slats' length would usually by a bit over the window's length to be able to cover it accordingly.

Window blinds are indeed useful to have at home. Not only do they block the heat and the sun from entering the room but they also would add some decorations to your interior design as well. In choosing vertical blinds or whatever type of window blinds, be sure to remember that it should match your taste, and your home's style.
