Both these models have replaced dangling cords or pull chains... which may prove not only to be more efficient, but make your home child friendly as well.

2. Set out a budget. Naturally enough, your budget plays a critical role in your window treatment options. However, it does not necessarily follow that the most expensive models are the best ones, and the cheaper alternatives are poorly made. You can get a good deal by simply shopping around before putting your money on the counter. Setting out a budget is one of the best ways of not going overboard with your purchases. Try to check out sales from your home improvement depot and peruse websites for online sales as well. Needless to say, you are bound to score on one or more great buys, simply because roller shades are becoming en vogue again.

3. Measure your window before choosing your window shades. This is the most important element when you are deciding on any window treatment option ... and often the one that most people disregard. The most common placement for roller shades is about 1 to 2 inches beyond the window frame, both in terms of vertical and horizontal measurements. However, there are some windows, especially the deep-framed ones, wherein measurements must be exactly the same as the window panes or glass. Or else, exterior light will still be able to get through.
