As the year 2012 comes closer, you will no doubt be bombarded with a lot of prophecies that tell of the world ending. According to believers all the signs do point to the possibility of the world ending on the year 2012. Just what are these prophecies you keep hearing about and should you be worried? The believers of this prophecy say that the world will only be transitioning from a period of war into a period of peace.

Astronomers have another take on this prophecy, according to them the Mayan long count calendar gives the time in which the earth will cross the galactic equator, something that only happens once every 26,000 years or so. They say that during this time there will be great earth movements; this may mean that there will be catastrophic earthquakes, and some astronomers even claim that this will be the time when the missing planet called Nibiru will slam into the earth, this will of course lead to the extinction of all life.

The Hopi Indians also have their own version of the 2012 end of the world scenario, they say that 2012 will be the time where a great world war will happen and the human race will destroy each other, leaving only a few survivors to begin anew.

Aside from these uncommon 2012 end of the world predictions there are also some of the more familiar prophecies, like the one from everybody's favorite doomsayer Nostradamus. Nostradamus says that on the year 2012 a massive comet will slam into the earth thus eliminating all life forms.

It is also said that the Book of Revelations in the Bible say that the signs of the second coming of Jesus is near, believers claim that all the signs have shown themselves; they say that the antichrist and his minions are already on the earth preparing for their planned takeover.
