You should also use the journal to keep a record of all of the maintenance work you have done on the power washer. The more accurate your records are, the better able you will be to care for your washer properly.

Every time you get the washer out, you want to check all of the fluid levels. This needs to happen every single time you use it. Don't assume that since you filled the fluids and oil the last time you used it, that they are still going to be topped off. Even when it is idle, powered washer parts can break and this can cause the fluids to drain out. The repairs will be far less costly if you take a few minutes to check on things instead of firing up the washer.

You need to keep in mind that some of your power washer parts are going to have to be replaced from time to time, even if they aren't technically broken. You washer has three different kinds of filters, an oil filter, a fuel filter and an air cleaner filter. All three of these need to be replaced every three months or after fifty hours of use, whichever comes first.

In addition to checking out your filters, you should also take a minute to inspect your belts. The more frequently you use your washer the quicker these are going to wear out. If you notice that they are getting frayed, or seem to be thin, you should replace them right way, rather than waiting for them to snap.

Power washers that are properly cared for will provide you with a lifetime of use. Keep in mind that the more aggressively you user the washer, the more often it is going to need to need tune up.
