For some people, this means simply flipping a switch to power on their electric furnace. Electric furnaces are operated by electricity, as opposed to other options such as fuel oil, natural gas or coal. Because of this difference, electric furnaces are often easier to install and can be hidden away in smaller spaces.

This is especially true if the furnace is meant to heat multiple rooms throughout a house rather than just the room it is in. There are more advantages to owning an electric furnace than just the low initial purchase price and installation costs. Electric furnaces are notoriously easy to operate and to set temperatures throughout a home. Also, electric furnaces are considered cleaner and more environmentally friendly than furnaces using natural gas or worse coal because they produce cleaner air that does not damage the environment. This is especially true if the source of electricity for a home is clean, such as solar or wind energy. Also, electric furnaces do not have a flame which can start fires and runs quietly, a great advantage for light sleepers. Home owners should consider taking the time to compare electric furnaces to other options when making a decision on a new furnace to purchase.
