This family of medications includes medicine for anxiety and depression, as well as antipsychotic drugs. Prozac is, however, an exception since it tends to cause weight loss and anorexia among patients, particularly those who are underweight.

The aforementioned families of drugs are considered as hindrance for people who are seriously bent on losing weight to take control of the risk factored in by obesity to their health condition. If these drugs make up part of your maintenance medication, you may be losing your battle against the extra weight. There are two alternatives possible: asking your physician to replace your medication and if this is not possible, try harder through proper dieting and exercise.
