Alternately, consult the American Numismatic Association or ANA. This is also a reliable professional guild with a directory of dealers. However, one should note that that this professional association, even though it has an ethics code, is not as strict in imposing and mediating in disputes, in cases of sold fake coins or unfairly graded coins. However, the advantage with the ANA is that it has many chapters, and it is very likely to find coin dealers in one's community.

Dealers can also be found at coin shows. Coin clubs usually organize such events and invite members of ANA and PNG. Some local clubs even sponsor these shows every month. Such events showcase dozens of dealers that will buy and sell all kinds of coins. These local clubs can also point out where shows for coin collecting are to be held, or they can direct the beginner to a reputable dealer who can offer professional help.
