THE GOSPELS
John

A book containing 21 chapters, it is believed to have written by John the Apostle. It is speculated to have been completed between 70AD to 100AD. It is believed to have originated in Ephesus and was written for the Gentiles. The book may have been used to give meaning to Jesus' teachings, and to strengthen and establish faith. Mark

The book of Mark contains 16 chapters. Mark is believed to be the author of the book. He was a companion to Peter the Apostle. The book is believed to have been completed between 50AD to 70AD in Rome. The Gentiles in Rome at that time are believed to have been who the book is addressed to. At a time when there were martyrs and Gentiles experiencing persecution , the book was written for them to strengthen their faith . Matthew

This book is the longest among The Gospels in the New Testament with 28 chapters. It was written by Matthew the Apostle, who was at that time, serving as a Tax Collector. The book is believed to have been completed between 50AD and 80AD. Having the Jews as the recipient of the book, it is believed to have created in Antioch or Palestine. The purpose of the book is to demonstrate Jesus as the Messiah. The book also traces Jesus' lineage from David.

THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES

This book in the New Testament comprises 28 chapters and is believed to be written by Luke in 63AD. The book is believed to have originated in Rome and to have Theophilus, as its recipient. The book is written to provide an account of the history of the church and the conquest of Christianity. A few of the subjects it deals with are the journeys of Paul, his missionary quest, the Holy Spirit, and the guidance it brings.
