The daily newspaper, television, radio, and the Internet all cover business news and financial matters as though their audience are primarily businessmen. Everyone nowadays is getting more and more interested about the latest developments on the national and international economy. From the viewpoint of market observers, extensive media coverage of business and economy mirrors the increasing importance of economic affairs in man's daily existence. Others tend to believe that economic considerations are turning out to be major influences in a variety of decisions, whether these be public or private matters.

Is the modern man motivated by business developments on a more personal level today more than ever? If an economic prediction reveals an upcoming economic downturn in the very near future, will an average wage earner forego with earlier plans to go for some good deals in the weekend sale? Will online shopping sales decrease? Answers to the foregoing interrogatives today and ten years earlier may be significantly different. The basic concern, however, directs the discussion to the antecedent of the characteristic change in man's perception of the apparent importance of business news. Would such change be mediated by man's natural awakening on the significance of economic indicators on his spending and investing behavior?

Some sectors argue that keeping a very keen eye on the economic sphere by journalists is as natural as man's realization of the need for an increased awareness of economic developments. Other sectors contend that business news has expanded relative to technological platforms. The foregoing arguments may be largely debatable . On the Western front, the importance given to economic news is a fairly recent phenomenon on account of the changing role of business journalism. Thus, the percentage of economic news in various media forms has increased compared with general news.

Man's renewed interest on the economy may, indeed, be immensely influenced by the influx of new technology. Nonetheless, neither technology nor platform can obscure the enormous impact of the economy on consumer behavior and practices. As new outlets for business information emerge , man will continuously benefit and use economic information to buoy up his way of life .
