The concern regarding the number of guest does not end after trimming the list of names of family and friends. After you have selected the people who you want to attend, you would need to know who among them would be able to really make it. After which you would need to know who could take the place of those who would not be around. To help you with this sensitive issue, you would need to send out wedding invitations early.

The problem with sending invitations very early is that some details cannot easily be finalized until a few weeks before the wedding day. Sometimes, getting confirmation with reception venues can be difficult. So in order to prevent these delays save the date invitations are sent. Save the date invitation are ideally sent four to six months before the wedding.

So how does a save the date invitation look like? Actually, there are different styles of this kind of invitation. A common one would be a save the date card. It could be a small postcard type invite with your names and the date and time of the wedding. Some put pictures to make it more fun . It could also be smaller than that. It could look like a gift tag.

Some also give out save the date magnets. Save the date magnets are chosen by couples because they can be placed on refrigerator doors at home or steel cabinets in the office so invited guests would always be reminded. Another style would be a page from a desktop calendar. If you are planning to get married in December, have a copy of the December calendar and make the specific day of the wedding a red-letter day. A nice picture to go with it would be the groom in a suit and the girl in a dainty white dress. Have Santa hats since it is December anyway.

Some issues regarding save the date invitations whether they be save the date cards, save the date calendars or save the date magnets are possible changes in date or time and the name of boyfriends or girlfriends of your close friends.

Most probably, you will no longer change the date. You are not supposed to send out these save the date invitations if you are not sure of the date anyway. If there is a possibility of change, that would be with time. Usually change would be just about an hour or two so there shouldn't be a problem. It would be a bit tricky though if you have to move from morning to afternoon or afternoon to evening. But this is something that can be clarified once the wedding invitations are sent. With the second concern, it would be safer to put Ms. Best friend and Guest especially if their relationship is still new.
