Before you start the linoleum floor installation, you will need to remove the baseboards around the room as well as any existing flooring. Make sure you take off the floor level receptacle covers as well so they are not damaged while you work. After those items are out of the way, remove the nails and staples that might be sitting in the subfloor. These items could damage your new flooring over time.

Once the floor is clear from debris, check to see if it is level. If it is not, you might want to cover it with plywood before you move forward. Staple or nail the plywood down to the subfloor. You will then have a solid and level base for your linoleum floor installation.
