These include the compressor, the thermostat, the control board, the selector switch, and the overload or relay. Another common problem is to find the air produced isn't cold enough. If this is the case then the first thing to do is to check the difference between the air flowing into the unit and the air coming out. The difference will normally be at least 15�, but if it doesn't it may be down to a number of different problems. The first thing to do is to check the outside cover has been removed.

This might seem like another obvious thing to do, but it's not unusual for people to cover it up during the winter and then forget to remove the air conditioner cover once the weather warms up. The next thing to do is to check the condition of the condensing coils, as they can easily become clogged up with the dust, and can be cleaned using a soft brush to clean away the dirt. You should also wipe up any dirt that has built up in the bottom of the unit at the same time to help it operate more efficiently.

If you are having a lot of trouble trying to find out what exactly is wrong with your unit, then it might be best to calling the experts to diagnose it for you, especially if the weather is warm outside and tempers are becoming frayed inside. The best thing to do to stop your air-conditioning breaking down in the future is to have it regularly serviced, and this will help keep all the air-conditioning parts working smoothly for longer.
