If you are planning on installing your own vinyl siding, take it from me... hire an expert. I got very do-it-yourself one day in a stroke of over zealous ambition, and I decided to do my own vinyl siding installation. Mistake number one. I did get a few things right. I chose the color that appealed to me, a slate gray that pairs well with navy shutters. The installation part went haphazard. Vinyl siding is durable, but when it is mishandled it cannot stand up to the wrath of a wielding human. I was so wasteful with the pieces that I messed up that I felt awful for throwing it away. They were methodical in their work and careful in their handling. It also helps to have a team to install siding properly whereas I had only one teenage helper who tried his best.

The nail heads I used were insufficient in size. They were too small, and when I tried to correct my mistakes I had a wall full of nails and vinyl siding full of holes and cracks. I write to deter you from making the same mistake. My mistake might be insignificant in comparison to what might happen to you. My loss was only in the hundreds of dollars. I cannot imagine had I continued to "repair" what the total expense would have risen to or topped out at.

I assure you many reputable and reliable vinyl siding installation companies are pros and consist of good work. They are the premium as far as value for what you pay. Every community has a vendor or supplier that sets the standard for quality installation and know how. My best advice to anyone is to seek them out and ask questions because they are full of knowledge. It may save you money, time, and lots of frustration.
