Their new discovery is called the "ColorPlus" technology. Many of the company's HardieZone products use it. But what exactly is this "ColorPlus" technology and what makes it different from the usual colors which the company previously used?

The ColorPlus technology is a new kind of technology that strives to match where you live with the kind and color of paint that you need to use on your HardiePlank. This system spent four years in the development stage. It tested over 2,000 formulas. The end result of using this technology is a color product whose paint lasts twice as long when compared to the average type of paint. This technology also comes with a warranty from the company. This warranty states that the paint shouldn't crack, chip, or peel away for 15 years or less.

How does this system work?

Once you enter the company's website, you're guided to enter in your zip code into the given field. The company's computer system then looks up your zip code and determines which HardieZone you live in. The system will classify you into either the HZ5 category or the HZ10 category. Once you learn which HardieZone area you're under, the system will show you the list of products available to your zone along with the list of colors available for each product in your area. These color palettes were developed by Leslie Harrington. Remember, this system doesn't just give you a random set of colors. This set of colors it gives attempt to reflect the local housing styles in your area and which colors fit your environmental surroundings. Since this is the case, there are some product designs which are available in HZ5 which aren't available in HZ10 and vice versa. The same can be said for paint color availability because some paint colors may be available in HZ10 while they're not available in HZ5 and vice versa.

So why use this new technology?

First of all, color accuracy comes to mind. This new technology can accurately match the color it places on the planks with the color you've selected from the color palette. It uses stricter guidelines in striving to exactly match the color it paints with your chosen color.

There is another difference between ColorPlus technology and the ordinary Hardieplank siding colors. This difference is consistency. ColorPlus technology includes putting on numerous layers of paint on the siding plank. This new technology then bakes the paint onto the siding plank in a strictly-guarded and controlled environment. This is a process which leads to the better consistency of paint in a paint job and also leads to the optimal thickness of the paint.

Then there is also the matter of fade resistance between the ColorPlus technology and the traditional Hardieplank siding colors. This fade resistance measures how long it will take for the paint's color to fade away because of weather conditions. Since this new ColorPlus system is designed to apply many coats of paint evenly and then bakes the paint into the product to counteract the elements of weather, these processes make the paint from the ColorPlus system more durable and less likely to fade when compared to the normal paint system. In addition, the company has also added UV resistance to its paint formulation to keep the paint from fading away quickly.

If you're worried about the former Hardieplank siding colors, don't be. They're not really being done away with or forgotten. The company's just adding more paint colors for their customers to choose from. The company continues to come up with ways to enhance their services and that means adding more variety to their products.
