T1 Internet Service versus DSL and Cable Internet Connections

A few years back, Cable and DSL became popular. Both of those internet connection types instantly became famous since it was such a huge leap from the slow dial-up connection. In addition, it considerably reduced many expenses a business would need to pay just to secure their online connectivity. Today, T1 internet service is slowly gaining the popularity that DSL and Cable once had.

However, due to the speed of those internet connections, many web developers started to upgrade their websites. Because of that, almost all the pages on the World Wide Web became cluttered with fancy aesthetic elements. In addition, most of the websites on the internet had let go of their old simple designs. Moreover, with the rise of new web development scripts and languages, the minimum speed requirement for a regular user to browse normally on the internet instantly intensified. In a company scenario today, DSL and Cable became like dial-ups. As of now, those connections were deemed not enough in a company wherein multiple users needs to go online to proceed with their business operations.

In addition, DSL and Cable internet connections are shared. Because of that, another problem appeared. People who are very active on browsing on the internet are hogging up the providers' resources. When all of those people go online at once, massive data traffic congestion occurs. That event usually results into making the provider's internet service to slow down or even cause downtime.

This is where T1 internet service comes in. The issues that DSL and Cable subscriber encounter do not happen to a T1 connection. Primarily, the main reason those problems do not occur is because T1 connections are dedicated. A regular T1 line does not share any of its bandwidth. An internet service like that provides constant speed, and it rarely happens that the service will meet any downtime due to heavy internet traffic.

Another good thing about T1 is the shortness of a packet's travel time from the user's computer over the internet. It will not lose many packets along the way, and latency is reduced below minimums.

To make everything simpler, from the customer's premise, a request for an internet page goes through the T1 line, and then it will reach the internet instantly. Because of T1's service functionality, no request will be lost; and the data will be sent immediately. Because of that, there will be no need for the computer to resend another request since it is less likely that a packet or request would be lost along the way. Unlike with DSL and Cable, the request from the user will pass certain equipment and network before it reaches the internet, and this usually results into packet loss and delayed responses from websites.

T1 internet service definitely defeats both DSL and Cable in almost all aspects of performance. It is a perfect remedy to all the flaws of the two popular internet connections. However, T1 service has a drawback too. It is very expensive compared to DSL and Cable. Nevertheless, if it is used by a business, the fee that it requires will not become a big deal.
