If it is not included in the quotation or proposal, the best thing to do is to ask the consultant and have the reply in writing prior to carrying out any work on your website.
Making unnecessary changes in the website or design without informing clients yet billing them is another common unethical practice among web design companies. Despite the fact websites and the Internet constantly change, a web design company should first notify the client prior to making changes to the website. Some companies change information in the website without the client's approval and then get charged for it. In the same way, other companies change the design then bill the client even if the changes are unsolicited.

If you have unknowingly contracted a web design company that implements such practice, make sure to contact the company once the change has been made. At the same time, make sure you demand an explanation for the change and not allow the company to charge you for something you have not asked for.
