Stand guard at the gates of your mind. The power of language is greatly underestimated, in my opinion... as well as the power of our mind. Some may even think, "Language, affirmations and our thoughts are just some mumbo jumbo that people got from that movie The Secret." Well, you are entitled to your opinion, but the beauty about science... is it's real!

Too many times I listen to people complain about their current situation or circumstances and it only takes a second or two to understand why they are where they are. Now I am nowhere close to perfect, but I am constantly conscious of the words I speak and the self talk that I use. My disclaimer here is that most of what I will share with you is in fact from personal experience, but I became aware of it from other people's experience. (mentors like, Jim Rohn, Jeffery Combs, Jerry Clark, Napoleon Hill, Fredric Lehrman, etc... just to name a few)

Imagine a time when you or a friend received a new car. Maybe not brand new, but new to you or them. Let's say it was a sleek, candy red, two door, hatch-back. What do you suppose you start to notice over the next week or so? That's right... sleek, candy red, two door, hatch-backs. Not because there was a sudden increase of sales to that car, but because you became conscious and aware of that particular car. Well it's the same idea when it comes to our language and thought process. Now that you're aware of it, you can insert any information into your brain that you see fit.

Understand that you can read all of the books, listen to all the audios and attend all of the seminars you want, but you'll never achieve the results you seek if your language and self talk is not conducive with the lifestyle you desire. How can anyone expect to be abundant when all of their thoughts are broke and thoughts of lack? The challenge I believe is that when someone is going through challenging times, all that is consumed in the mind is the exact situation that you are attempting to overcome. You see, we attract to ourselves what we think. So when we worry about paying the bills or living paycheck to paycheck... Guess what we get more of? We see more bills and a scarce paycheck. But the good news is we have the power to change our situation. Understand that you are where you are in life because of yesterday's thoughts. You can try and blame it on circumstance and "bad luck" all you want, but the fact is that your current place in life, financially, spiritually, physically and relationship wise are all a product of your thoughts.

So to get us on the right track I'm going to throw out a couple of ideas that I learned from Mr. Jeffery Combs and other mentors. The power of our language can and will have a dramatic effect on our thought process. Language will either elevate or hinder our level of consciousness. And when you understand where our words derive from, it will begin to make more sense. Take for instance the word "need." How many times have you heard or have you said something like, "I need to lose some weight" or "I need to go to the store?" Need comes from a place of lack and is non-committal. So you're really telling yourself, "I'm never going to do it" and you will continue to live in disappointment. Instead, replace the word "need" with words like, "require," "will" or "deserve." Especially the word deserve... doesn't that just feel much better to say? "I deserve to lose 15lbs so that I feel better when I move around in that new dress." You feel lighter just saying that don't you?

When we become conscious of the words we use, eventually it will sink in to the sub-conscious and begin to transform our thought process and in turn, attract the necessary people/situations to alter our present situation. "It's like magic, only real."

How would it feel to operate from the state of mind of prosperity? The word prosperity comes from the Latin word, "Prospero", this means, "in the flow." That is where all of our state of minds should be. When you operate from a place of worry or anxiety, it tends to lead to procrastination... This then becomes disappointment and begins a vicious cycle. Instead, let go of the feelings that don't serve you. Leave the bills on the table... They will be there later, I promise. Worrying about them is not going to make it any better. Stop telling yourself that you can't keep up with the bills and start asking yourself, "how can I earn more income?"

Whenever you are faced with adversity, here is an affirmation that will assist you to let go of the negative feelings that don't serve you... "This too shall pass." Challenges are a part of life and only you have the power to overcome any adversities thrown your way. Also, don't worry about situations that you can't control. "The past is history and the future is a mystery." You can't change what already happened and the future isn't here yet so stop worrying about it. The only way you can be of service to yourself and this world is to live in the present. Be the best person you can be everyday, one day at a time.
