Coming to Juneau, Alaska can be an exciting adventure. There is so much to do in this capital city of Alaska. This must truly be the best place in the world for whale watching. There is also an amazing amount of salmon to be caught here, the world's largest coho was caught here. There are various other activities and sites to see such as the Mendenhall-glacier, Herbert-glacier, Eagle-Glacier, Lemon-Glacier, and the Nugget-Glacier. The Nugget-Glacier also creates nugget falls which is an ice waterfall creating this enormous blundering sound.

There are numerous companies offering two words to go on ranging from zip lining, dog mushing, helicopter to words, boat to her, walking tours, bicycle tours, and just about anything else you could think of. They cater primarily to the 1.2 million visitors that come in by cruise ship every year.

Housing is a major problem in the city and the city and Borough are constantly thinking of ways in how to improve this. Recently a major apartment building burned down causing even more of the housing crunch. Real estate prices recently went up 10% in this last year alone. In the wintertime Juneau easily gains 100 inches of snow at the bottom and collects 200 inches at the top of the ski area called Eagle-Crest. Juneau also provides world-class skiing.

In the winter the legislature come helping funnel all of Alaska as wealth through this city of 29,000 people.

Juneau is served by an international airport and state ferry system. Everything must be flown in or brought in by ocean as this small city is completely surrounded by 1,500 mi.² of ice called the Juneau-Icefield and water.

Haines, Alaska is 65 miles north by fairy typically a 4.5 hour ferry ride. And Skagway is only another 40 minutes away. By fast ferry Sitka is for an half hours away.

Commercial fishing ends in September around Juneau but continues on in other surrounding areas.
