• During pregnancy, you should always have lots of rest. In some instances, stress can induce miscarriage. It can also cause constipation, low birth weight for the baby, and back pain for the mother.
• If you have cats as pets, you might need to avoid them for the next nine months because cat litter has toxoplasmosis which cause defects in infants. Ask someone to clean up the cat litter in your home. In line with this, you should also be wary of the food you eat because toxoplasmosis can also be found in raw meat.
• Toxic fumes, when inhaled, have bad effects in people in general. The effect on a baby is even worse during pregnancy since it may contain lead. It attacks an infant's nervous system.
• Expectant mothers should avoid having x-rays especially during the early trimester. Although the effect is not so substantial, x-ray exposure still poses risks to the unborn baby. The same should be observed for microwaves since some studies suggest that the radiation has harmful effects to the baby.
