No doubt, this is one of the reasons why several employers are spying on mobile phones and computers used by their employees. It is coherent that an employer makes sure his employees are doing their jobs right and not wasting time on personal matters. Who won't be alarmed with statistics of 44% who got caught looking for a new job and 43% chatting with friends?

Illegal or not, employers are sometimes left with no choice to ensure that their employees are really working during office hours. Provide policy breaks. You may allow at least thirty minutes each day wherein they can browse the net for personal use. Because of this, an employer may refrain from spying on mobile phones. Admit it, "All work and no play makes one a dull person."

Trying these tips won't be enough if not properly monitored. Sanctions should also be implemented for non-compliance of employees. Emphasize that these sanctions can result to termination. Warn them that it is also their actions that would lead you to spying on mobile phones and computers they use. It is important to point out that not only you will benefit on a good working environment. Borrowing the words of Bill Richardson, "We cannot accomplish all that we need to do without working together."
