How to Do Your First Mashup with Virtual DJ

Good news if you want to be a DJ – you do not have to buy fancy consoles and hardware controllers. All you'd probably need to start with a mashup is a mobile device that works with Android. Whether you want to start producing music today, or you just want to have cool music in your party later, follow these instructions to start making mashups.
Download and Install Virtual DJ
Since this app is Android, go to Google Play to download and install this app. Wait a few seconds to finish the installation, and then close all the running background apps. You wouldn't want them to make your device slow, or accidentally play sounds once you go live.
Connect to Headphones or Speakers
While your device would have its own speakers, connecting your speakers or headphones would help you feel and hear the beat. That would help you a lot in syncing effects and one-shots into the tempo later on.
When connecting to an amp or headphones, make sure that all your cables are secure so that you won't accidentally trigger a static or reduce the output level. If you want to play music using Virtual DJ like a pro, buy mini-PL multi-cable adapters that would allow you to connect a headset and speakers to your device at the same time.
Ready Your Playlist
Virtual DJ would automatically search for the existing mp3s in your device – all you got to do next is choose. The app would also list all the information that you would need to select songs – Artist, BPM, Duration, and Key. Note that these would all affect how your mashup would sound later on. Note that if you have music videos in your device, Virtual DJ would also recognize them as audio files.
For starters, you would want to choose songs that would have the same time signature so that you would be able to make them have the same downbeats. A song with a 3 4 time signature would probably not sound good with a song with a 4 4 time signature. You would probably also want to mix songs with similar genres or same instruments for them to not sound awkward together.
Once you are ready with the songs to use in a mashup, just drag and drop them into the deck. To make sure that Virtual DJ would play their downbeats or the bass drum of the tracks together, hit Sync.
Playtime
Once your tracks are synced, you are ready to play live or record. Hit the play button on both decks, or let the first track play first and then cue the second.
You would also see that there are preloaded effects there on the bottom of the screen. If you want to add reverb, decrease vocals, or create beat patterns from the preloaded tracks, you can find them there. Beside the decks are one-shots that you can play along with the music. If you think you did great and you recorded the entire song, you can go ahead and let Virtual DJ broadcast your track!
