The durability

A real one can still remain flexible and it can still perform well no matter how many times you will use it. It will not lose its original shape overtime, especially if you want to use it as a bracelet. A bracelet that is made out of a fake paracord rope will slide off your wrist as it loses its strength for a long time.

The weight

The weight of a genuine one is usually lighter. In fact, 225 feet of it will weigh only a pound. A fake one tends to be heavy even when you need to use it in survival situations.

Element resistance

The real one can withstand mildew, water, oils, and acids. If it is exposed to water, it will dry up quickly so that it will not damage its strength. The fake one will become weak when it is exposed to those four elements for a long time.

The length is equivalent to a pound.

Type I has a length of 950 feet. Type IV has a length of 165 feet. 1,050 feet is the length of type IA. A paracord rope that has a length of 225 feet is classified as type III. Type IIA is 495 feet long. The type II is 265 feet long.
