Hockey, baseball, basketball, and even boxing, have allowed their fans to stream the games live and watch reruns on TV, computer, or the Xbox for a minimal subscription fee, so it is a wonder why the NFL's executives are still not doing the same thing when it has been proven a profitable venture by the aforementioned sports. Most people now spend a lot of time online, so it's no surprise that people who don't have a cable subscription turn to the web to watch NFL live stream. The problem is you can only watch NFL live stream on the league's official website, but for a cost that will make majority of the fans unhappy. The price ranges from $100 to $200. So, what most of the fans do is look for sites that offer the same service for a very minimal amount, specifically around $5 to $30 a month. However, the challenge is finding this website.

Yes, it will just be a matter of time that NFL live stream will not only be available on the league's website or on TVs with cable subscriptions, but for now it will still remain a thing of the future as NFL has an exclusive deal with DirectTV for its streaming rights. It was reported that DirectTV has paid $1 billion annually for the said contract. The contract covers until the end of the next season. However, rumors have it that the satellite dish company is now having second thoughts on renewing the contract once it expires. The chief executive of DirectTV, however, said that it is looking into extension negotiation, but for now they are focusing more on promotions on DirectTV's apps and launching new advertisements. It has also been said that NFL games is becoming more expensive. Television partners are said to have paid 75 percent more in 2013 than what they paid in 2006.

It is quite intriguing why NFL does not want to unleash the full potential of the online market by allowing NFL live stream. With this issue, the chief executive of DirectTV says that they have to make decisions according to the best of everyone's interest. But in the past two years, the satellite dish company has been allowing limited streaming during special promotions and for a short period of time, as if testing the water, to people who are not subscribed to the dish service. They had also offered a streaming-only service for $100 to people who bought the recently released special edition of the Madden video game. However, during the service was offered, subscribers said they there were too many limitations on it that it might not be worth the price.

Whatever they might be planning, let us just hope that NFL and DirectTV will make necessary changes on the current system at the soonest possible time as fans will be more than happy to do a hassle-free NFL live stream in the next season. Or if DirectTV will no longer renew their contract with NFL, we just have to hope that NFL will sign with a company that will make NFL live stream, as what most sports offer today, possible.
