Rechargeable lithium ion batteries are good for up to 500 charges but if the one you got doesn't last for more than a few months with only minimal use, then it is probably not a true hand cranked device but one using regular batteries and just appears to have a mechanism installed to make it appear that it is a hand cranked flashlight. To be sure about the power source of your hand cranked flashlight, it is best to consult the manufacturer, ask for specifications or for a schematic diagram of the product.
