Products have emerged from various companies that show different effects to make the eyelashes become fuller or thicker. Achieving the spider-like lashes or long natural effect for no makeup makeup look has been the trend for daily activities. Mascara, a cosmetic used to enhance the eyes by thickening, lengthening and defining the eyelashes (available in liquid, cake or cream), has been one of the essential items in ladies' makeup kits. However, since the natural look became popular, women would not go overboard to appear heavy unless attending parties and so they seek for a more casual look especially for everyday.

For the no makeup makeup look, women would first wash, moisturize tone and use lightweight, oil-free sunscreen on their faces to achieve that luminous glow. Drinking plenty of water is also recommended to hydrate the skin. If the person is dehydrated, their skin would look and feel dry. BB cream or a tinted moisturizer is then used instead of a foundation. It must be applied using the fingers or makeup sponges to achieve a more natural look. Light-reflecting concealer pen is needed to cover up the small imperfections or red or dark areas on the skin.

Next would be, using a creamy blush or lip tint to manage a fake natural blush. The creamy blush should be close to the skin's natural blush (after exercising). As for lip tint, powdery pink is for fair skin, peachy pink is for medium skin and brownish pink is for dark skin. It is recommended to avoid glittery makeup that shines and sparkle. For the eyes, an eyelash curler and brown or dark brown mascara is used.

Eye shadow can still be applied as long as it matches the skin tone or cream eye shadows (do not use powder as it gives a heavy makeup look). Use brow powder with a stiff brush to cover up and fix sparse eyebrows. Lastly, a swipe of lip gloss brighter than the natural lip color or a color-adjusting gloss and a makeup-setting spray is used to keep the makeup fresh.

During formal events, a face primer, foundation, black mascara then makeup that is long lasting and smudge-proof. It has to have powder matte dry formulations (if deciding to go with cream based, finishing powder is necessary) and lastly, makeup-setting spray is used for the finishing touch. Mascara must cover the roots to the tips of the lashes to volumize the eyes for a more flattering look. This cosmetic can be waterproof, glittery or the regular kind.

Like all makeup, it must be removed before sleeping. The person should use a makeup remover without rubbing on the eyes (pat or dab the eye area only) as it can cause the eyelash falling off. If not removed , it will become stiff and cause breakage. Eventually the lashes lose shape with consistent use (if left without proper care) and if not applied correctly , it can sting the eyes and lead to more serious eye problems.

It would help if eyelashes are taken cared of properly (do not rub eyes and tug on eyelashes). Mascara can still be used but must be applied and removed with caution to avoid eyelash loss.
