Leads are the name of the game for building any type of business both offline and online so having a good lead generation process is crucial to the ultimate success of your business.

Leads are an essential element in building any kind of business successfully, whether or not it is a traditional bricks and mortar company or an internet business.

Although not all leads are created equal and not all lead generation processes are made equal.

A sub-standard lead can cost you a lot more than it would appear at first glance.

However, not all lead generation processes are equal in quality.

A lower quality lead generation process can finish up costing a business far more than it may seem to at the beginning.

You may well think a lead is a lead, but you are wrong.

Creating a cold lead and a highly targeted lead eventually costs the same, but the second is definitely much better.

For example, if leads have not been qualified in the promoting process then you may yourself be wasting time on unqualified and disinterested prospects.

Your sales response rates drop, and business declines.

It's a vicious spiral.

The advertising rate of response plummets, and the company's revenue decreases, which is a pattern that can ultimately produce catastrophic results.

Throughout the selling process there needs to be a way to identify qualified leads and separate them from the others.

Your conversion rates will be disappointing otherwise and you may get frustrated and your business will fall apart.

OK you do have an audience of millions when you market online, but that suggests that qualifying process is even more important and it's much more hard because few folks really know you from a hole in the ground.

Any business takes time and money to get it off the ground, the more money you can invest in your business, obviously, the more you can spend on hiring people to do the time consuming jobs, or to do the things you simply cannot do.

You can also spend money on advertising which should bring in more leads.

It takes resources to properly launch any business, and the more money one can invest, the better, as this way an adequate staff can be employed for the purpose of lead generation and other activities that are critical to the company's success.

Money must also be spent to publicize correctly, as this is an avenue thru which more leads can be produced.

If you have built your attractive website and you are following all the tried and tested methods of success, like adding articles regularly, answering e-mails promptly, employing auto-responders and having a prominent opt-in box, and you have built hundreds of backlinks through article submissions, blogs and social media sites, why in heck aren't you making any money?
