There are people who like scooters and there are people who like dirt bikes. These are usually the people who prefer 150cc engine displacements on their machines. Now you can't always ride on your 150cc dirt bike but you can always get around the city with 150cc scooters!
Most scooters with this engine size are street and highway legal as they are deemed quite capable of achieving highway speeds without too much engine stress. But then, dirt bikes can give you a more heightened sense of fun when you tackle the rough and tumble back roads and other environment scooters just can't seem to handle.
It makes you wonder if anyone has had the sensibility to mix these two seemingly polar opposites to achieve the type of performance you would get from a scooter and a dirt bike.
Enter the SSR Rowdy. This machine is probably a really good model of what you get when come together and create a solution to having the practicality of a scooter and the ruggedness of a dirt bike in one solid machine. What you ultimately get is a scooter that looks like it's ready to take on the world after the apocalypse!
Sure, it's not as pretty as a Vespa with all of the exposed tubing on it but these 150cc scooters still possess some clean straight lines which keeps it true to the minimalist mindset that scooter owners have. It does have more power than 50cc scooters though!
Granted, it doesn't have the long wheelbase and suspension travel needed to leap over humps but it can easily go around them with its relatively tiny. Who needs to risk getting injured flying when they can easily go around an obstacle right?
Not being able to conquer those humps doesn't mean these 150cc scooters aren't suited for dealing with smaller mounds. It does come equipped with a higher than normal ground clearance and dual rear shock suspension so potholes and other irregularities on the road won't pose too much of a problem.
There's an option for you to use the electric starter button to get on the road immediately or use the kick start whenever you feel like you want to be a little bit more macho about going on the road.
And this machine just wants to go! With a 4 stroke engine and no clutch system, all you have to do is rev the motor and it's just going to pick up speed for you. Of course caution is advised and if that doesn't work, there are disc brakes up front and in the rear to stop you from getting into an accident. That might just come in handy if you have too much fun and forget you're on a scooter and not an actual dirt bike.
And to give you an idea on how reliable these bikes can be, they have been stamped with the Australian seal of approval as they are deemed quite capable of taking on the outback. Not all scooters can stake a claim to that type of fame. It's a beautiful piece of machinery with the heart of a scrapper. Maybe that's why they named it Rowdy in the first place!
