Treasure In The Closet - Building Your Network Marketing Business

Many times in life, something is offered to us and we don't see the value for ourselves at the time. This is especially true in our network marketing business when a mentor is trying to teach us something new. We sometimes put these things "in the metaphorical closet" stored away, forgotten.

Many years ago I was offered a copy of Norman Vincent Peale's book, The Power Of Positive Thinking". Being a young, egotistical know-it-all, I naively thought I didn't need to read that book, I already knew what it was about. Big mistake! Years later I would regret that silly decision.

It would have helped if I had started my self- improvement journey years before I did. I could have seen more success more quickly in my network marketing endeavors. The resources were right in front of me, they were hitting me over the head and still, I ignored them thinking I already knew it. All too often in life, we think we don't need something when in fact, that is our ego defending itself against the very information that could be valuable today.

I have since learned that the instant I begin to think I know something, that is the time I need to close my mouth and open my mind to the possibilities as well as my ears and listen carefully because the lesson in front of me is exactly what I need to learn right now.

They say when the student is ready the teacher will appear. Sometimes the teacher is standing in front of the student hitting him over the head with a club and he still doesn't see.

More recently I was given a copy of the book "The Charge" by Brendon Burchard. Little did I realize the importance of what I had in my possession. I took it home and put it on the shelf. It wasn't until I read The Motivation Manifesto, by the same author, that I went back and grabbed his earlier work off the shelf and dusted off the cobwebs. It had gathered dust for a couple years before I realized the significance of what I had in my possession. Now I know and am reading this incredible book that predates the Motivation manifesto.

So once again, all too often the universe makes available to us opportunities that we simply do not take the time to understand the significance of and therefore let slip through our fingers. I have learned that when the universe is standing there knocking on my door, I need to pay attention. It is trying to deliver a message.

So the message is, go look in your (metaphorical) closet to find those dusty treasures that you may have forgotten.

Perhaps more importantly is to carefully look at everything you are offered and find the treasures that you might otherwise overlook. Is the student ready now? Your network marketing business will progress more rapidly if you close your mouth to the objections and open your mind to the possibilities.
