Basic Skills

As a beginner, the basic skills you should have for recreational fishing primarily involve your ability to control the fishing rod. One of the first things you will do with the rod is to tie the knot. You will need to attach bait as well.

You should also gather more information on fishing the type of fish you want to catch or whatever fish available in nearby areas. The other skills you need to learn are casting and retrieving your fishing rod.
