The Power of the Body for Self Healing

We all know that all things physical have a short lifespan. From the atom to the most massive star in space, everything is made from matter. All matter eventually deteriorates and dies. Science has discovered,that matter can not be destroyed, it can only be changed. This fundamental principle points out an inter-connectivity of all things.

An acorn grows into a sapling that grows into a tree. The tree grows tall and strong, becomes old and begins to rot. Eventually, it falls to the forest floor where it gives up its life energy, energy it has accumulated from the soil and the sun while alive. That life energy seeps into the soil where it helps stimulate the growth of a new tree.

The cycle of birth to death exists even among the stars where suns and planets are formed and eventually lose their inherent energy. No less do we, as human beings, travel through the same cycle. As hard as we may deny death, it will come. Our life energy will eventually dissipate.

This cycle of life and death is not a bad thing as it brings new life where energy is renewed. Like matter, energy is always present. It does not die, it is only transformed. This transformation reveals a fundamental law of nature that applies to all living things. While all things are subject to death and decay, all things have within them the power of rejuvenation too.

All things also possess within them the power to heal. This power to heal helps to prolong life. This power to prolong life exists alongside the power that eventually takes life. It poses a symbiotic relationship, a relationship of opposites. The Chinese have called these opposites "yin" and "yang".

This brings up an important point of the human condition. While we will eventually grow old and die, we can use the power to heal ourselves. Our bodies are constructed to fight the invading forces of viruses, bacteria, foreign chemicals and anything that threatens to terminate life. Our immune system goes to work to repel invaders and reestablish equilibrium in the body. Life seeks to preserve itself.

We don't often think about how the body functions to maintain health, nor do we consider working with the body to fight disease. We put complete reliance on drugs and vaccines that too often prevent the body from doing the job it is capable of doing. Because we interfere with the body's natural healing ability, we create more disease and sickness.

This is where today's medical practices go wrong. It treats illness, but does not aid the body in its constant battle to remain healthy. Medicine does not understand the connection between our bodies and the life force energy of the universe that aids it. Since we approach healing through physical intervention, we only create temporary relief for what ails us, but never address the root cause of illness.

True healing can only occur when we are aligned with the natural healing forces around us. We may feel distinct and different from nature, but denial of the healing power that exists in the body and the energy that exists to cure disease will bring more suffering than is necessary. We need to accept that cosmic energy exists and we can call on it to heal ourselves of most every illness.

Christ healed the sick and performed multiple miracles that simply couldn't be explained on a physical level, yet this same power is available to all of us if we know how to use it properly. To heal ourselves we need to tap into this power. This power exists to promote healing and happiness. It must be used for good as it will not work for those with selfish motives. You don't have to wait for a healing guru to come along as you can apply this healing power on yourself. You can heal yourself once you are aligned with the cosmic energy that waits for your use.
