How To Stay On Top Of Social Media For The Holidays

The holidays loom ahead, you want so much to enjoy them but you have a business to run, you're building relationships on Facebook and don't want to lose steam. WHAT DO YOU DO? Sound familiar?
The reality is, we all know this STRUGGLE too well! How DO you juggle your home and business?
When you suddenly realize it's Christmas Day and you haven't EVEN posted your blog.
How do you make it all work without running yourself into the ground?
How Do you stay CONSISTENT on social media through the holidays?
Here's some of my BEST advice for getting your work accomplished and keeping YOUR SANITY during the holiday season.
It is easy to get OVERWHELMED between baking cookies, wrapping gifts, and catering to your in house guests who came to town for the holidays. You can feel the PULL, you know how important it is to still be on social media, but after all, you're only HUMAN not a MACHINE.
You don't want to END UP feeling resentful! So now what?
You can CHOOSE to take time and step back from social media, bask in the glory of what the season is truly about.
Believe me, I'm not diminishing the importance of being on social media even during the holidays, however, in the end, just like everyone else you have a RIGHT to enjoy this special time of year.
Business is important, it's your BREAD and BUTTER, your passion but family is even more important.
Set aside one day before the holidays and write out all social media posts for the week so you can just copy and paste them online. If you use a social media scheduler such as Hootsuite or Buffer, you can schedule out your pre-written posts which will help to make sure you're being consistent and that you're showing up!
One super benefit of pre-writing your posts is you're able to just jump into your favorite Facebook groups, publish your post, and BAM! be out of there in a few seconds and back to the holiday festivities.
Make a personal commitment to limit your time on social media then make the time count by prioritizing which groups to pop into. Use your down time to check-in with your different groups. For example, if you are waiting for the HAM TO COOK and the guests to arrive, and have nothing else to do, POP IN, make a few comments and POP BACK OUT!
From engaging with others to posting, you can use this time to make sure that you are being seen on social media and people aren't forgetting that you exist.
Don't forget your commitment to limit the time you are on so that you aren't getting sidetracked by the "invisible TIME SUCKING machine" AKA Facebook.
You're not alone, there are many, many business owners out there just like you. ALL of them trying to find THE BALANCING ACT, between home, the holidays and business.
Some might have found the right rhythm that already works for them, others could still working it out! It's NATURAL and it's part of your growth as a business owner.
There will be some who actually close down THE shop, allowing themselves to be in the moment without distractions, able to truly celebrate the holidays, with those they love.
Others will choose to POP IN and out of social media as time allows.
With the way the world is today, there are even a few that don't have the PRIVILEGE of being with their family on this special day and that knowledge alone should make you enjoy yours so much more.
People are much more understanding then we give them credit for and in fact, most will be at home enjoying their own celebration so if you are not online that much, IT WILL be okay!
IT WILL be okay if you take the day off.
IT WILL be okay just showing up periodically to make sure that no one forgets your name.
The answer really lies with you and how you WANT to spend your time. It's up to you to decide what your priorities are, what you want your world to be like and HIDDEN in all of this is the added bonus .. it's a great way to PRACTICE self-care.
Remember holidays are a VERY SPECIAL TIME of the year, a time for reflection and a time to be with those we cherish.
So when you sit down and plan out the rest of the week, remember, AND THERE'S NO GUILT allowed, the best way to stay on top of your business during the holidays is to have content created in advance so that it TAKES VERY LITTLE TIME to actually publish what needs to be published.
Whether it is a blog or social media posts, CREATE IT in advance and be ready to go.
You only get this holiday once a year, make it count. Moments slip by WAY TOO FAST and memories need to be made. By taking the time to get your work done before the weekend, you'll end up with more time to enjoy your family and friends, more time to relax and truly appreciate what the holiday is really about.
