Have you always wanted to make those crazy Go Pro ski videos on YouTube? There is actually more to it than just strapping a camera to your gear you know. You might end up with just blurred videos all in the wrong angles.
To help beginners out, the pros have been very generous enough to share some tips and advice while you�re on the ice. Here are our tips for newbies.

1. Come prepared or don�t come at all
Making a crazy ski video requires a lot of preparation. Here are a few factors to consider:
Do you know all your camera�s features?
Do you know how to go through the menu to find the options you want?
Do you know which setting is appropriate for the different situations you�ll encounter as you ski?
Do you know how to slow down or speed up footage?
Do you know how to adjust the mounts?
Do you know how to adjust the camera angle?
If your answer is to all the above is in the affirmative then you are one step ready for recording videos on the snow. Now, there is a difference between being familiar with these things and actually knowing how to do these things. Simply put, you should practice working your gear at home. That will save you a lot of frustration on the slopes.

2. That last minute check
It�s going to be quite frustrating to be right there on the slopes and realizing you forgot to bring one essential piece of gear. To help you avoid that, you should make a last minute check list. Now, here�s a sample:
Batteries
Extra batteries
Mounts
Skis
Ski gear
Avalanche gear
Camera memory (bring an extra Micro SD card with you)
Extra clothing
Camera angle
Snacks
Multi-tool (for making those quick adjustments)

3. Keep your mounts handy
There are a few mounts that you should always have in your backpack. These should also be kept within easy reach. You should have your pole mounts, chest mounts, and helmet mounts ready and handy. Mount and set the angle as you go. Store them when you�re not making a skis video.

4. Watch and edit your work the minute you get back home
After a long day at the slopes, it will be very tempting to sit around the house and relax. But if you�re really serious about making really goo ski videos then you should make it a point to watch your videos as soon as you get home.
Find the videos you like and the ones you will most likely upload and/or use. Mark or take note of which footage works and which ones you�ll never use.

5. Do your editing the following day
Do your video editing work the following day. That way the memory of each run is still fresh in your mind. A good place to start editing is the Studio software that comes free with your GoPro. Of course, you can add other enhancements after.
