Perhaps, the most important quality that baby boomers can leverage when freelancing is the sheer volume of experience they have in various industries compared to younger consultants. Younger consultants might have training on newer concepts but mere knowledge often pales in comparison to practical wisdom brought about by years of experience in certain fields.

Granted, even possessing all of these qualities will not make the decision of becoming an independent consultant easier. Anyone who wishes to enter consultancy will still go through the same hiring process and must avoid the same pitfalls, regardless of age and experience. With that said, the way one presents their qualifications as well as negotiate a favorable rate will still matter in making this new career all the more sustainable.
