When you hear the word gauge, you might think of it as something to do with weather, this is also true. In reality, gauge comes at different types and form, as well as purpose. Gauge is a device used to make measurements and to display information on specific dimensions. It can measure physical quantity, volume, thickness, diameter and pressure. Other types include level gauges to determine presence and height of liquid in tanks. Depth gauges to measure the inside lengths of holes. These gauges can also be categorized caccording to what they measure. This includes pressure gauges that are used to measure and display pressure in an integral unit. Next are limit gauge that determines if an object reached its tolerance capacity inside and outside. Limit gauges can provide a faster inspection and it can be used in mass production for checking and controlling various dimensions and ensures interchangeably.
In addition, plug gauge, pin gauge, snap gauge, caliper gauge, ring gauge, thickness gauge, radius gauge and screw pitch gauge are an example of limit gauge.
Quality of gauges can be identified by its gauge function on how it will measure and display the amount of pressure. Next is the maximum measurable pressure that pertains to the maximum pressure a gauge can display and withstand. Lastly, the measurement range for gauges that measure depth, length, weight and bore.
