Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED)
Indeed, LED TVs have made CCFL televisions obsolete�and it�s by surpassing them in every way. Now, what happens when there�s another screen technology that overshadows even LEDs? OLED displays make use of organic compounds that light up whenever put in contact with electricity, meaning they don�t require backlighting at all.
As you can surely imagine, that means home entertainment systems that rely on OLED screens can be made much more compact, slimmer than the latest LEDs. OLEDs are also a lot more efficient, translating to reduced power consumption and cost. But why haven�t they dominated the market? There�s one good reason for that�they�re still a lot more expensive to make.

In the early days of high-definition televisions (HDTVs), LCD and PDP duked it out for supremacy.
